Reading is a Blessing!

I love reading soooo much! But to be completely honest I don't really have much time to leisurely read anymore like I used to. Mainly because my reading time has been replaced with the books I read for school, and the only book I read on my own accord is the scriptures. When I was in the beginning of Elementary school reading was very difficult for me, but due to my personal perseverance and my parents helping me move onto harder levels of reading at the end of Elementary school, my teachers were surprised that I could read at a level way above my age group. Reading has really helped me throughout my life to better conceptualize things. I loved reading and still do because it takes you to a different world, you learn from the lessons the books share, you read about things you may never see in real life, you feel at ease when you read when everything around you, in reality, is going crazy, and so much more.  Reading also united the family. I remember my dad would read us the scriptures and random books at night. When he read the scriptures to us he made them come to life for us and really applicable to our personal life. One of the books my dad read to us was Dolphin Song, my siblings and I always looked forward to when my dad would read to us.  Reading is such a blessing!

  2. I love your statement that says "you feel at ease when you read when everything around you, in reality, is going crazy, and so much more" this is SO TRUE. Although, it also makes me think of the privilege I live in. We are privileged to be able to grab a book, go outside and sit in the grass and read without anyone questioning us, or the book we are reading, no bombs or war going on, and so forth. It makes me sad to think that in my world I can do that and in someone elses world they cannot--and it pushes me to do better and to help those who don't have the opportunity to do so--granted I am only one person out a trillion people and problems in the world--but just doing what I can to help has helped me feel like I am doing something with this privilege.

  3. I think it is hard to find time to read in college with all the required readings we have but it is always a blessing when I have the chance.
